Letter of Application
Media Services Specialist
Dear Mrs. Ross:
When I read the listing on the Wabash website, my first thought was it described my current job at Ball State. I have 3 years experience operating the university’s digital media lab. I am an original member of the Digital Corps responsible for the Emerging Media PowerHouse. I have been promoted to the highest student level and would love to start a career at Wabash after I graduate this semester.
The PowerHouse is an Apple based lab equipped with Mac Pro computers, Wacom Cintiq monitors, and DV tape decks. The lab features Shure microphones, ProTools Mboxes, and Control24 mixing boards. The equipment belongs to the telecommunications department, but is available to anyone. I help students and professors using a camera for the first time on a daily basis.
The Digital Corps is a group of media software experts that provide support and customer service during the lab’s hours of operation. Beyond advice for lab patrons, the Digital Corps offers software training for Apple Final Cut Studio and the Adobe Creative Suite.
I have been a guest instructor in classes teaching Final Cut, DVD Studio, Flash, Photoshop, etc. As a junior, I personally wrote and taught a DVD authoring seminar for a six hundred-level graduate class. I have given digital literacy lectures to the community in downtown Muncie.
I have the experience to serve all needs for digital media at Wabash. I will train student employees that will be respected and known for their skill. I intend to be an Apple Trainer soon. I would be qualified to teach official Apple software classes normally billed for thousands of dollars.
If the position requires an immediate start date, I will be there. My only commitment is a single course necessary to graduate in May. I will walk across the stage and drive to Crawfordsville for work if necessary.
Sincerely,
Robert Freeman
